Fact-Checking Policy

At Jambura News, we are committed to providing accurate, reliable, and trustworthy information to our readers. Our fact-checking process is rigorous and thorough, ensuring the highest standards of journalistic integrity. Below, we outline our commitment to accuracy and transparency in our reporting.

Commitment to Accuracy

a) Jambura News is dedicated to publishing accurate information across all content. We investigate claims with skepticism, question assumptions, and challenge conventional wisdom to ensure the reliability of our reporting.

b) We strive for due accuracy in all our output. This commitment is fundamental to our reputation and the trust of our audience. The term ‘due’ means that the accuracy must be adequate and appropriate to the content, taking into account the subject and nature of the material, while transparently mentioning any constraints that may influence that expectation.

Ensuring Reliable Information

c) Our content is well-sourced, based on available evidence, and corroborated. We strive to be honest and open about what we don’t know and avoid unfounded speculation.

d) Our journalists never plagiarize or deliberately distort facts or context, including visual information.

e) We seek independent verification from sources to confirm claims, information, and allegations, especially those made by public officials or individuals with an agenda beyond merely reporting the truth. Claims and other content that cannot be corroborated are typically attributed to the source.

Editorial Integrity

f) Jambura News stands by the information it publishes, deeming it accurate. If proven otherwise, we amend the news item/information as quickly as possible. We do not knowingly or materially mislead our audience. We do not distort facts or present invented material as facts, which could undermine our readers’ trust in our content. We acknowledge serious factual errors and correct them promptly, clearly, and appropriately.

Public Participation

g) We provide a fair opportunity for the public to report any inaccuracies or errors in our reportage via the ‘Suggest A Correction’ section at the end of every web story we publish.

Multi-Level Fact-Checking

h) Our journalists’ primary responsibility is reporting, writing, and fact-checking stories. Stories undergo review by one or more editors. Jambura News has a multi-level fact-checking structure for stories requiring due diligence. The seniority of editors who review a story prior to publication varies based on factors like complexity, sensitivity, and time pressure.

Our Correction Policies

While Jambura News continually strives for excellence and accuracy, we recognize that errors may occasionally occur. When these errors happen, Jambura News takes responsibility for correcting them and maintains a high level of transparency to ensure that incorrect information does not spread.
